Robin Ohringer, Ph.D.

You’ve probably come to my website because you are facing difficulties you feel unable to manage on your own. Or perhaps you have become aware of patterns in your behavior or relationships that you would like to change.

Psychotherapy is a process in which talking with a trained clinician allows people to better understand themselves and their behavior. New ways of coping with problems can be tried out, and better ways of managing stress can be learned.

In psychotherapy people learn how past experiences lead them to form coping strategies which may interfere with reaching current life goals. Psychotherapy also helps people cope with the transitions and losses we all face as a part of living.

This website will provide some information about me and my practice. However, the best way to determine whether psychotherapy would be helpful to you is to schedule a consultation with a trained professional.

 My Practice

Although my practice includes adults of all genders, the majority of my patients are women between the ages of 17 and 65. Over the years, I have developed special interests in problems particular to this group such as:

  • Single parenting

  • Pregnancy loss and infertility

  • Combining work and family life

  • Issues related to childrearing

FAQs

  • These questions can be discussed during the first meeting. Since each situation is different, frequency and number of visits are variable. In the beginning, it often works out best to meet every week. This helps with developing comfort and continuity between sessions.

  • Some people come with very specific goals, while others come knowing what is not working for them but are uncertain what could. We will work together to clarify your concerns and to figure out how therapy may be of best help to you.

  • I am currently a provider for a number of insurance plans: Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS), Tufts, Harvard Pilgrim, Medicare, Optum, AllWays, United Behavioral Health, Aetna, Cigna, and Unicare. Many other insurance companies will reimburse me as an out of network provider.

  • I currently charge $200 per clinical hour. However if you have health insurance, you will only be responsible for your copay. I do have a fee scale, and will reduce my fee for individuals who are unable to afford the standard fee.
